Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio pictured with the heads of Guam's partners in public safety.
As a former and long-time Police Officer, Lieutenant Governor Raymond S. Tenorio knows first-hand the challenges that the Public Safety sector in Guam is confronted with.
He is cognizant of issues ranging from the shortage of personnel and equipment infrastructure, to the delayed and non-payment of overtime work and the dire need to build capacity.
Lieutenant Governor Raymond S. Tenorio’s knowledge of these issues, coupled with his deep commitment to keeping all facets of the community safe, are what led Governor Eddie B. Calvo to appoint him as the Public Safety Overseer.
It is a role that Lieutenant Governor Raymond S. Tenorio is humbled and honored to undertake, and one that he will perform tirelessly and with the entire island community as his motivation.
Lieutenant Governor Raymond S. Tenorio’s goals include, but are not limited to: strengthening interagency and federal relations; advocating for adequate funding levels to address personnel, equipment, training and fleet support; aggressively seek federal assistance wherever applicable to augment, and more importantly, to lessen the dependence on, the government’s fragile General Fund; improve local and federal agencies’ Communications and Information Technology capabilities; and to one day build a Public Safety Campus, which will house both local and federal agencies.
